Bridges 2026
Bridges is the premier interdisciplinary conference for art and mathematics. Bridges 2026 will be held in Galway, Ireland, on the campus of the University of Galway.
The Bridges Organization, founded by Reza Sarhangi, aims to promote interest in mathematical connections to art, music, architecture and culture.
The basic idea behind Bridges is best summarized in the following quote from the Bridges organization:
«All too often, mathematics can seem disconnected from or even antithetical to these other topics. We believe that mathematics and art can inform and enrich each other, that there are great ideas waiting to be found in mathematical analysis and synthesis of art, and that artistic thinking and activities can enliven the mathematics classroom.»

A special treat
The French mathematician Édouard Thomas has brought four wonderful etchings by the recently deceased copperplate engraver Patrice Jeener (31 July 1944 – 3 March 2026) to the Bridges Exhibition. Jeener specialised in depicting interesting mathematical functions and solids, such as the Klein bottle. The first image shows a two-dimensional representation of the double Klein bottle, embedded in three-dimensional space.
